Abstract

This paper examines the activism of Christian feminists in contemporary Argentina, focusing on how they redefine faith as a collective and political practice in a context shaped by the rise of right-wing religious politics. Drawing on digital ethnography and in-depth interviews, it conceptualizes religion as a contested field in which competing moral and political projects are negotiated. The analysis focuses on two empirical moments: the ambivalent reconfiguration of Pope Francis and Christian feminist reactions to President Javier Milei’s engagement with evangelical spaces. These cases highlight the role of affect in reshaping religious authority and political alignments. The paper argues that Christian feminist activism challenges both secular assumptions and conservative religious discourses, reworking faith as a resource for social justice and gender equality claims.
