The article argues for the use of simulations, specifically multi-agent-based simulations, as theoretical tools. Furthermore, it makes the case that the theory of active inference is well-suited to this end. To this end, three simulations are presented that already use active inference to generate solutions to typical sociological problems. A simulative contrast between four solutions of the micro-macro-problem is delineated, as well as further expansions of multi-agent-based simulations with active inference.References
