Abstract

Der herkömmliche Diskurs über die berufliche Selbstständigkeit ist unbefriedigend, da die Heterogenität der Selbstständigkeit nicht ausdrücklich erkannt und thematisiert wird. Die Interpretationen beziehen sich in der Regel auf einen Durchschnittstyp der Selbstständigkeit, der in der Praxis nicht existiert. Dagegen wird hier argumentiert, dass eine differenzierte Betrachtung notwendig ist, die sowohl historische Entwicklungen als auch aktuelle Dynamiken einbezieht. Ausgangspunkt unserer Analyse ist die Entwicklung der Selbstständigkeit im 20. Jahrhundert, insbesondere vor dem Hintergrund technologischer Fortschritte und der stetig zunehmenden Digitalisierung. In einem nächsten Schritt werden die Muster der Selbstständigkeit in verschiedenen Dimensionen untersucht. Insbesondere die spezifischen Formen der Solo-Selbstständigkeit, des hybriden Unternehmertums und der Selbstständigkeit im digitalen Zeitalter werden gesondert beleuchtet.
