Die Sicherung guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis als „White Man’s Burden“? Kultureller Rassismus im Diskurs über wissenschaftliches Fehlverhalten

Abstract

In der aktuellen Diskussion um wissenschaftliches Fehlverhalten nehmen Erzählungen über die möglichen Ursachen von Fehlverhalten einen besonderen Stellenwert ein. Die Identifizierung von Ursachen ist dabei nicht einfach als die neutrale Suche nach Kausalerklärungen zu sehen, sondern erzeugt und legitimiert mit ihren starken Tendenzen der Moralisierung spezifische Ausschlüsse aus Diskursen und Gemeinschaften. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht diese Kausalerzählungen anhand von Material aus Experteninterviews mit Personen, die in unterschiedlichen Funktionen mit der Entdeckung, Untersuchung und Sanktionierung von Fehlverhalten betraut sind. Dabei zeigt sich, dass Fehlverhalten insbesondere als ein Problem nicht-europäischer Wissenschaftskulturen beschrieben wird, die auf diese Weise abgewertet und aus dem Bereich legitimer Wissenschaft ausgeschlossen werden. Die so produzierten Ausschlüsse fallen einerseits mit bereits bestehenden Marginalisierungen zusammen und zeigen diskursiv andererseits deutliche Parallelen mit Grundannahmen des kulturellen Rassismus. Der Diskurs über gute wissenschaftliche Praxis wird auf diese Weise genutzt, um einen privilegierten, primär weißen und europäischen Erkenntnisraum zu erzeugen und zu verteidigen.
