Das Fach Soziologie im CHE Ranking 2024/2025

Abstract

Nach einer über zehnjährigen Pause nimmt das Fach Soziologie ab 2024 wieder am CHE Ranking teil. Vorangegangen war die intensive Arbeit eines Fachbeirates, bestehend aus Vertreterinnen und Vertretern des CHE, der DGS und der Akademie für Soziologie, die die Erhebungsmethode und die -instrumente grundlegend überarbeitet haben. Damit wurden die bisherigen Kritikpunkte behoben, die von vielen soziologischen Instituten geäußert worden waren und schließlich zu deren Nicht-Teilnahme am Ranking führten. Im vorliegenden Artikel beschreiben wir die Zusammensetzung des Fachbeirats und der Arbeitsgruppen, die wichtigsten Erneuerungen und die spezifischen Anpassungen in den Erhebungsmethoden, die zur Wiederaufnahme des Fachs Soziologie ins CHE-Ranking führten. Diese Anpassungen der Erhebungsinstrumente als auch die Einführung eines neuen Auswertungsverfahrens waren notwendig, um die Belastbarkeit und Aussagekraft der Ergebnisse zu erhöhen. Des Weiteren stellen wir erste Ergebnisse der Datenerhebungen vor.

After a break of more than ten years, from 2024 on sociology will once again take part in the CHE ranking. This was preceded by the intensive work of an advisory board consisting of representatives of the CHE, the DGS and the Academy of Sociology, who fundamentally revised the survey method and instruments. This rectified the previous points of criticism that had been voiced by many sociological institutes and ultimately led to their non-participation in the ranking. In this article, we describe the composition of the advisory board and the working groups, the most important changes and the specific adjustments to the survey methods that led to the re-entry of sociology in the CHE ranking. These adjustments to the survey instruments and the introduction of a new evaluation procedure were necessary in order to increase the reliability and informative value of the results. We also present the initial results of the data collection.
